Hi Everyone,
As the Australian boarder is opening up to New Zealand in a fortnight for the Trans Tasman bubble, some of us like myself aren’t really ready to fly overseas yet considering we haven’t had the vaccine or any medication to combat COVID19. Due to this reason, we have been doing a lot of camping as well as looking for local adventures/ spots to keep ourselves entertained during the holiday period. During a long weekend, we went to visit Blueys Beach which is just over 3 hours car ride from Sydney.
Passing Newcastle, this place is quiet and secluded with plenty of rest time if you want to get away from the busy city. If you want a stop over, find a nice cafe a Newcastle or The Entrance to break up the drive. We decided to not stop to any of these stops and just got MacDonalds on the way. Our accomodation was basic and secluded with the neighbour pretty far from us which we prefer. The house owner even had a telescope of us to check out the stars on a clear night.
Not far from our accommodation is Blueys Beach. It is not manned so it is best to stay safe to avoid any accidents. We have been told by locals that Christmas and school holidays does get busy in particular with COVID, the beach is a popular destination for the surrounding suburbs. The beach has little shade to be sure to bring some protection and a beach umbrella or tent because you need it if you are intending to stay there for the whole day. We have seen some jelly fish there on the sand so assumed there are some in the water so you need to be extra cautious while in the water. The last thing you need is getting zapped by a jelly fish which is never pleasant.
There are plenty of side parking outside the beach so no need to worry but again it will get busy during the holiday season. We love staying at our accommodation as we always find some guest outside in particular in the mornings when we wake up. The kangaroos are harmless if we don’t go near them and remember don’t feed them. Some decides to rest under the shade in our yard or just happily hopping around . I think there are a herd of them around roaming the area bu we don’t feel like they are harmful more just curious to see what we are doing.
