I am a person who loves cultivating different hobbies. I love to draw, play the music keyboard and ukelele, bake cookies and bread, read books, and watch TV series. Last year, I picked up another one, and that is crocheting. I remember how my mother used to crochet flower patterns as an additional income stream when I was still a kid. I would convince her to let me try it, I would always mess up the counting and the flower would look like a withered one hahaha. A few years ago, I wanted to start on this hobby but time really was scarce back then. I am glad, eventually, I was able to carve time for it.
pouch of different sizes
The first craft I was able to finished was a pouch, not the one in the photo above. That's actually the fourth pouch I've made since I started. The first one was bigger that fits all my toiletries I use for travel. The second and third were of this same size that fits the airpods. I've made a lot since my sister also wanted one for her airpods, back when the cases we purchased haven't been delivered yet. I still use this pouch in addition with the case just because I find it cute. That gave me the idea...what if I make crochet crafts for all my belongings?
At the start of the year, I purchased this huge bag, almost the size of a throw pillow. I wanted to get away with always using a backpack in going to work, but, I carry a lot of things so I have to find a way in having it well organized inside this bag. Aside from the pouches and organizers I bought before, I wanted to make something that will protect my laptop from the things that I just put inside this bag. It's like a sack bag with no dividers and pouches inside so I have to have mini bags inside. Hahaha.
a new project
Since I am still not confident with my skills and my will to finish the things that I started. I wanted to make the design and its way of making to be very simple. I searched for a tutorial for the simplest laptop sleeve online and found a guide. All I had to do is make a chain that fits the width of my laptop and make double crochet stitches until the length when folded fits my laptop. I chose an 8-ply yarn for this sleeve because I wanted to serve as a protection case too and I am also most comfortable using the thick ply yarns compared to the thinner ones.
I was making this for the whole month of February, when I was busy going back and forth from work and home province. Whenever I would have time to spare, I would add rows of double crochet stitches so that I'll be able to finish it and put it to use. What I love about this new found hobby is that I can use the crafts I make, it gives me peaceful moments as I try to make the stitches as neat as possible, and it's very enjoyable when I listen to music while working on it.
Here's the finished product! It's a little bit shorter than what I planned. But still, I am now using it as a sleeve for my laptop whenever I would use my big sack bag. On my next project, I plan to be a little more extra, and add some designs like flowers and other cute things. :)
