With this photo, I start my daily South Pole series. I want to show you the beauty of ice and water in drastic conditions. Why we normally see only white and grey snow, in Antarctica, it is turning into wonderful colors of blue.
Here you can see an iceberg, that broke off in a way that a large ice platform is held close to the water surface. It brings out such delightful colors. You almost want to swim in it. But make no mistake. The water is so cold that a human could not survive to swim in it. Even minutes would be very dangerous. In addition to that, the iceberg can turn around or break apart at any moment.
