As I had done in Glasgow, I once again turned my attention to my new focus in photography – fine art architecture in black and white – whilst in Panama City. Amongst the sea of skyscrapers in this Central American metropolis, three in particular stood out to me. I tried to highlight them in my photographs and later edited them using my new Photoshop workflow.

Wie schon in Glasgow, habe ich mich auch auch in Panama City wieder mit meinem neuen Fokus in der Fotografie – Fine Art Architektur in Schwarzweiß – beschäftigt. Im Meer von Wolkenkratzern der zentralamerikanischen Metropole stachen für mich drei besonders hervor, die ich versuchte, fotografisch in Szene zu setzen und später mit meinem neuen Photoshop-Workflow zu bearbeiten.

The Hi-Point Tower is a state-of-the-art commercial and office building. Thanks to its striking glass façade with floor-to-ceiling windows, the building offers the companies based there spectacular panoramic views of the sea (Panama Bay) and the city skyline. The building is highly regarded in the local property sector and has been honoured with, amongst other awards, the prestigious Magno MOA Architecture Prize (2018).

Der Hi-Point Tower ist ein ein modernes Gewerbe- und Bürogebäude der Spitzenklasse. Durch die markante Glasfassade mit bodentiefen Fenstern bietet das Gebäude den dort ansässigen Unternehmen spektakuläre Panoramaausblicke auf das Meer (die Bucht von Panama) und die Skyline der Stadt. Das Gebäude genießt in der lokalen Immobilienszene ein hohes Ansehen und wurde unter anderem mit dem renommierten Architekturpreis Magno MOA (2018) ausgezeichnet.

The F&F Tower is the city’s modern landmark and is famous worldwide for its extraordinary corkscrew design. It is therefore known to both locals and tourists – almost exclusively – as ‘El Tornillo’ (Spanish for ‘The Screw’). The tower rises an impressive 243 metres into the sky and was completed in 2011. Shortly afterwards, the building was voted one of the top 10 skyscrapers in the world (7th place) at the prestigious Emporis Skyscraper Awards.

Der F&F Tower ist das moderne Wahrzeichen der Stadt und weltweit berühmt für sein außergewöhnliches Korkenzieher-Design. Er wird deshalb sowohl von Einheimischen als auch von Touristen – fast ausschließlich „El Tornillo“ (spanisch für Die Schraube) genannt. Der Turm ragt stolze 243 Meter in den Himmel und wurde 2011 fertiggestellt. Das Gebäude wurde kurz darauf beim renommierten Emporis Skyscraper Award unter die Top 10 der besten Wolkenkratzer der Welt gewählt (Platz 7).

The Tower Financial Centre (often referred to as the TowerBank Financial Centre) is another architectural giant in Panama City. The 231-metre-high tower is entirely clad in a deep black aluminium and reflective glass façade. Depending on the position of the sun, the building appears either deep black or dark blue-metallic. As the name suggests, it is the financial heart of the Campo Alegre district. The main tenant and namesake is Towerbank, one of Panama’s best-known banks.

Das Tower Financial Center (oft auch als TowerBank Financial Center bezeichnet) ist ein weiterer architektonischer Riese in Panama City. Der 231 Meter hohe Turm ist komplett mit einer tiefschwarzen Aluminium- und spiegelnden Glasfassade verkleidet. Je nach Sonnenstand wirkt das Gebäude dadurch tiefschwarz oder dunkelblau-metallisch. Wie der Name schon sagt, ist es das finanzielle Herzstück des Viertels Campo Alegre. Hauptmieter und Namensgeber ist die Towerbank, eine der bekanntesten Banken Panamas.
