Good day dear mates! Today I'd like to share with you recipes of lemonade and tea from red Oxalis.
Spring this year in my region turned out to be fresh and rich in rains. Plants and even stormy greenery gratefully meet such weather. Well, or not greens, if we talk about the red garden guest, growing without permission from the beginning of April and all year in my garden.
More specifically, today I want to tell you more detail about Oxalis or in Slavic countries it also well known as Kislitsa.
The plant has a pleasant sour taste, as it contains salts of oxalic acid.
In 100 g of Oxalis - two daily norms of manganese, for example, and half of the daily dose of B vitamins, as well as vitamin C in large quantities. Leaves of Oxalis also relieves heartburn, restores the acidity of the stomach. A decoction of the leaves has an anti-inflammatory effect.
In addition to the usual garden form, there is also a green Oxalis that grows in forests and has yellow flowers.
One more interesting fact that if you tap on the leaves or flower of an oxalis with your finger, it will also close. Also Oxalis is able to drop leaves in strong light and from mechanical irritation.
Movement of leaves under the influence of these factors occurs as a result of a change in turgor pressure in the cells of the pads of the leaf articulations.
You can make salads from Oxalis, add it to soups, and of course prepare refreshing drinks.
Lets start from tea recipe.
For this we need nearly 80 grams of Oxalis leaves.
First of all I separate the stems from the leaves.
Then I wash leaves of Oxalis, and we don't need stems any more in our recipe. After that I prepare water, heat it. But remember that the water temperature should not exceed 85 degrees Celsius to save vitamins and minerals. When the water is ready, I dip leaves into my favorite teapot and let it steep for at least 15 minutes or more.
When Oxalis releases its pigment into the water, along with useful substances and minerals, leaves turn green.
Further, if there is no strainer in the teapot, then tea must be filtered. And now you can drink it.
For sweetness, you can add a spoonful of honey.
Now the continuation of the recipe for lovers of cold drinks. Let's move on to Oxalis lemonade.
First you need to prepare the same infusion of Oxalis leaves as described in the tea recipe. After that, you need to cool it and strain it. When everything is ready, cut off a third of the lemon per 1 liter of lemonade. And add a tablespoon of honey and mix it. You can add a little more or a little less honey if you prefer the hapitok to be more or less sour. After that, put it in the refrigerator to cool.
Before serving, you can add an ice cube to our lemonade.😉
That's all for now.
Stay tuned! Yours !
