Last time, I posted an adventure movie poster while just playing around with my art programs. Having done that, I decided to make another, however it goes along with a conversation in which I was having with the love of my life. We were talking about, what if Hollywood were to take the story of our lives and made a movie? We agreed on the two actors that would properly capture the full range of emotions and mannerisms in which we both possess, and they would be the best suited to relay the story through their talents in acting. I decided to make a poster design of what could be, if it were to come about and our story was captured on film.
Not only am I going to share the poster itself, I am going to show all of you the steps and images in which were used to create the finished product.
First, let me show you the images I used for the background of the poster.
Using the program GIMP 2.8, I combined the three images, resizing them to fit where I felt they needed to be, and placed them atop one another. I added fades in the appropriate areas, as well as filters to make the blend a bit smoother. This is the result for the background image.
Once I felt the background looked appropriate, I gathered multiple pictures of the two actors, Robert Downey Jr. and Anne Hathaway. I looked through each one, deciding which would compliment the other and also be fitting for the theme. These are the two pictures which were chosen.
Using paint.net in conjunction with GIMP 2.8, I tweaked the photos to darken and lighten respectively, adding the proper fades that would blend with the background where needed.
Opening the background image, and both of the tweaked and faded images of the actors in paint.net, I resized and placed them to fit and properly contrast with the background image.
In manipulating the images with filters and lighting adjustments, I smoothed the actors into the background. I saved the image and opened it in GIMP 2.8, and used the smudge tool to break up the lines a bit and look more like storm clouds than a definite line. I saved from GIMP 2.8 and opened the image in paint.net, and set to work with the actors' names, the tag line, the title, and the projected release time frame. This is where I cheated a bit, using the text to cover some of the more difficult lines in which I didn't take the time to manipulate enough to be smooth. After choosing the fonts and several layers to give them the shadow behind them, I came to my finished product, which is the poster for the movie Soulbound, set for release in the summer of 2023.
I chose summer of 2023 because her and I have decided that will be the year in which we would marry. Granted, I have not proposed to her yet, but like everything else in my life, I've learned to calculate and formulate before acting. So it will come, but when I have everything set properly.
Thank you all for taking a few minutes to view my post. I hope it was able to both entertain and inform you. As always, up votes are greatly appreciated, as well as re-steeming. Comments are welcome and will be responded to, and I am always delighted to have new followers. Fair winds and calm seas to all of you...
