H.L Mencken
H.L Mencken was a man not afraid to speak his mind, and it made him somewhat of an unpopular figure at the time, but a lifetime later we find his candour refreshing and probably wish that there were more like him nowadays. People like George Carlin spring to mind, although he has sadly left us too. Can you imagine someone saying something like this today without being publicly crucified? Last time I posted this quote over on Facebook a bunch of people hid the post and unliked the page - some people just can't handle the truth.
“The American people, taking one with another, constitute the most timorous, snivelling, poltroonish, ignominious mob of serfs and goosesteppers ever gathered under one flag in Christendom since the end of the Middle Ages.”
