Hi Hivers,
It's with great pleasure that am welcoming everyone to my blog and I hope you're all doing well and having a great week. I will like to share with you the latest development regarding my broiler birds and I will like if you stay tuned till the end.
Today make it exactly four weeks that I started raising broiler birds and they four weeks old today as I bought them in as a day old chicks.
During the journey of four weeks, a lot of things has happened and many positive changes as well. Though it may not be easy to raise broiler birds from day old due to fears on whether you will be able to properly take care of them or maybe there will be high mortality rate but raising your broiler birds starting from day old is the best option especially if you're starting your own poultry birds.
Since I have brought the birds in, I been making sure to do all the needful by taking the precautions and following the necessary measures to make sure that they are all in best shape.
Vaccination is very important when raising broiler birds as it helps the farmers or entrepreneurs to have great profits during the harvest. My birds have been on water administration of live viral vaccine such as Lasota strain and Gumboro, which is very important for their growth as it prevent the birds from any kind of diseases. Both the vaccine (Lasota And Gumboro strain) are to be administer two times each until they reach four weeks.
I administered lasota strain in the first week, then Gumboro second week, Lasota third week and then Gumboro to complete their vaccine dose as they reach exactly four weeks old today.
Gumboro vaccine help to prevent gumboro virus disease which usually affect birds at young age and it can cause economy losses to the poultry farm. And lasota vaccine is also very essential for birds as it helps to prevent Newcastle diseases and other diseases as well.
Taking care of my broiler birds has been my priority to make sure that they are in good shape and for me to have a good market value when it is time to sell them to the market or consumer. And below 👇 are how I vaccinated my broiler birds with gumboro strain.
I make sure to always withdraw drinkers from the birds as early as possible any day that I want to administer vaccines to them. This will make them to be thirsty and they won't be left with any options than to drink instantly from the water administer.
Keeping the drinkers and other materials that will be used for preparing the vaccine is very important and that's why I make sure to keep everything cleaned before I go to get the vaccine at the veterinary clinic.
Taking appropriate measurements is necessary. Since am administering 200 dose of gumboro strain to my birds then this how I took my measurements. The amount of water you need depends on the numbers of dose you're using for your birds. Since I am administering 200 dose of gumboro to my broiler birds. The amount of water I need is equivalent to just 1 of the drinkers which is 4litres. I pour it inside one big bowl and mix it with the vaccine and shared the water in to the drinkers for the birds to drink.
