HI Hive,
Communication is what we do every single day, whether with family, friends, classmates, colleagues, or even strangers. But over time, I have understood that good communication is not only about speaking clearly or knowing the right words to say. But it is also about understanding emotions, both ours and those of the people around us. And that's where emotional intelligence becomes very crucial in our everyday life.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, manage, and understand emotions. I believe that it plays a key role in building healthy relationships and improving communication. There have been moments in my life when I reacted out of anger or frustration without first thinking 🤔, and those moments usually created misunderstandings. But whenever I take time to control my emotions and carefully listen to others, then conversations become smoother and more meaningful.
One of the thing emotional intelligence teaches me is patience. In day to day life, people are going through different struggles that we may not have ideas about. A simple disagreement can quickly turn into a serious conflict if emotions are not properly handled. And I have learned that showing empathy, staying calm, and listening instead of interrupting can strengthen relationships. People naturally feel comfortable around those who make them feel understood and respected.
Emotional intelligence also helps in family and friendships relationships. Sometimes, a friend may not need advice instantly, they might just need someone who listens without judging them. Even in relationships, understanding emotions can prevent unnecessary arguments and honestly help both people communicate. I think relationships last longer when people learn to express themselves with kindness and maturity instead of pride and anger
Self-awareness is one of the most important parts of emotional intelligence because it helps us understand ourselves better. If a person cannot recognize their own emotions, it becomes more difficult to control their reactions. For me, I noticed that whenever I am aware of my mood, I communicate better with others. For instance, if I know I am stressed or upset, I try not to speak harshly or make emotional decisions.
Self-awareness also helps us recognise our strengths and weaknesses. It allows us to learn from mistakes and improve the way we treat people. Without self-awareness, people may continue hurting each others even without realizing it.
At the end of the day, emotional intelligence makes life more easier because it improves understanding, communication, and relationships. And for me, self-awareness is the foundation of it all, because understanding yourself is the first step toward understanding others.
