A good mid week day as we're getting prepped to head out of Arizona so time to enjoy the natural beauty of the Verde Valley.
I decided to run on the foothills trail for a change, although I have been hiking them recently. It's always a lot tougher on these rocky and winding trails so I have to be more cautious with my footing and pay more attention to the trail and not get too distracted with the scenery.
I was alone on my run so the 4 miles passed quietly with just a few birds out and the flowering plants blooming before the dry summer heat hits.
Lulu's hips were better today so we hiked along nice 2 mile loop down along the Verde River in the afternoon. Always plenty of activity in the Old Town and a good number of people also enjoying a walk on the trails.
The river is running lower due to the lack of runoff but there's still more than enough for a cooling splash and a good roll on the grass.
