Finally a day off that allowed me to get outfor a much needed run and an afternoon hike with Lulu. The past few days had been unusually long volunteer shifts (7 to 8 hours) which didn't allow me much time to get out except for walks around the recreational path and then hatchery.
While yesterday was sunny and warm, the weather today was cloudy, cold and dreary with the dark clouds looking like they would drop rain at any time. I actually ran in long wind pants and a thermal top as I chugged along the path and some new biking paths being added onto the existing bike trails.
A mid 10 minute pace through the soft dirt trail before am little quicker bit on the final stretch on the road back to our rv site and the end of my 3 and a half miles. Even with the cold it felt good to run at last and some flowers helped brighten things up.
We did an easy late afternoon hike down to Spearfish Falls just to get into nature. The path was empty as it seemed no one wanted to be out hiking on this cold afternoon. Still, the falls are beautiful even with the lower flow of the creek but I'm happy that the trees will soon be much more lush. Lulu lov3s these paths and she was content to trot along checking out everything.
Back to work tomorrow but hopefully the weather will keep down the crowds and the predictions of some light snow tomorrow night won't amount to much.
