It’s going to be a little bit back to front because I’m going to post about my first hotel before my flight which I really want to share because it was such a stressful experience! Plus I now have a good few tips to give people travelling to Mexico so they don’t get ripped off. So my first hotel was the NH Cancun airport, I say it is just because it’s so close to the airport, which I thought would make it easy to get here however not so much the case. This hotel was just a base for me to chillout and get prepared because my next place will be tulum, where my boyfriend will come out to me.
The decor is actually really nice, it’s clean and simple but really comfy and with amazing Aircon, so good I actually thought it was a pretty cold days so I went outside!
The room is super spacious, comfortable and has everything you need apart from toilet paper it seems. I did wonder if maybe they had a system where they don’t use toilet paper but then there’s no toilet spray or anything like that and the public toilet downstairs seems to have toilet paper so I saw some of theirs anyways to use in my room. Maybe someone from Mexico can tell me if it’s a thing not to put toilet paper in the room or they just forgot.
So the next thing I absolutely need to post about even though it’s not actually in the order that happened is the breakfast. It cost me 300 pesos which is roughly £15 and in order to make some kind of money back from my ridiculously overpriced taxi the night before, details to come in the next post, I made sure to get my money‘s worth! Since I assume because of Covid they bring the food out to you and you order rather than being able to help yourself, there did come a point where I started to get slightly embarrassed about how much I was ordering so left it at that, but I could actually have eaten more, people always underestimate me because I’m slim. I do eat healthy though mostly raw vegan although occasionally I will have an egg once every few months especially in situations like this where it’s harder to find protein. They really don’t seem to cater for vegan coffee drinkers as it was almost impossible to find some alternative milk so I had to stick with black coffee. I won’t judge Mexico yeah on vegan options as it’s only day one but I can definitely say I’m struggling with the milk situation.
What actually came before breakfast though was the gym I was pretty proud of myself as I don’t think I’ve ever been to the gym at 6 am in the morning before food before, but since I went to bed at 7:30 pm Mexican time I woke up quite easily at 5:30am. So hopefully I can stick with this and get into a really good routine here that I’ve been lacking for a while back in the UK. After breakfast I went for a bit of a walk just to see the grounds of the hotel they have some amazing plants and flowers, It’s not in the heart of nature but they tried;
There’s also a pool here, it’s not the biggest bar it’s cool for a quick definite sunbathe which is where I’m going now since the midday sun is dying down. I’m pretty pale after a few cold months in the UK so I’m going to have to adjust slowly. They are also celebrating, or I think just finished celebrating the Mexican Day of the dead. It’s a ceremony where dad and passed over loved ones are celebrated and remembered, I do believe that some people practice actually taking the bodies out of the grave I’m taking photos with them, that’s probably in much smaller towns though.

Little something that did make me giggle with the door sign, do not molest me in my room!
