I promised attendees of my last Advanced English Language Seminar that as soon I learnt something new, I'd gladly share.
I love to share for three reasons.
First, it's a curse I suffer. From experience, a real teacher doesn't know how to hoard knowledge, or any kind of valuable palliative measure. We always give out freely, happily and wholeheartedly. It's just a curse we must bear.
Second, I hate it when a friend commits a blunder that has the potential to embarrass him or mar her chances of success.
I know a friend who lost out on a contract because he didn't know that 'drains' meant 'gutters'.
The European contractor was willing to give him a contract of a lifetime and asked if he could handle drains and he replied in the negative, thinking drains meant something as complicated and cumbersome as flyovers. He cried his heart out a few days later when he realized they meant gutters which he could handle almost effortlessly.
He missed a great opportunity and somehow, I feel responsible for that missed opportunity and that's why I love to share, just to help my friends have the English language edge in life. To my friends, such as I have, I give.
Third, I love to share so I may offload and reload. You see, every time I share, I empty myself of the little I knew, and that helps create space for growth via more new knowledge and tricks.
Hoarding tends towards stunted growth and poverty of ideas. Sharing however tends towards prosperity of the body, soul and career.
Have a prosperous Monday!
