EOS continues a sharp climb in price following heavy trading over the last few days, having increased around 50% in 48 hours and 400% over the last 6 weeks!
EOS is due to go live this Summer, at some point in the next 10-12 weeks - so there is understandably an increased excitement about it and desire to get in as early as possible. Since EOS represents a new paradigm in technology, in terms of it's ability to support huge scaling of internet apps and to effectively 'make governments irrelevant' through intelligent use of smart contracts and systems of arbitration and dispute resolution - EOS is understandably one to watch this year.
Those who use Steem will no doubt be aware that the main architect of EOS is (Larimer) - the designer of Bitshars and Steem! Since Steem has had such a rapid success and proven itself to be a revolution in the field of social media, it is fair to conclude that EOS will represent a quantum leap forwards as Dan makes use of everything he has learned through his earlier projects.
I will be putting more time into researching and testing EOS in the coming weeks, but so far I know that it has several technical differences to Steem:
A 1 second transaction time, vs 3 seconds for Steem. This means that interactions on social sites that run on EOS (For example) will occur in 1 second - which is actually faster than Facebook - meaning that next generation social networks can stand a chance at improving the user experience over Facebook's current performance level. Maybe Facebook will migrate to EOS? ;0)
The equivalent of the witness system found on Steem is quite different and as I understand it, the main nodes in the network are expected to be large institutions such as universities.
The most obvious difference - EOS is an actual Operating System that is distributed over it's network, meaning that instead of us being limited to making social posts over the net - as we are with Steem, we can actually run applications over it!
has publicly stated that he intends to build Steem 2.0 on EOS, meaning that we might see a new equivalent app to Steem at some point soon which equals or betters Steem. It will surely be exciting to watch how Steem's development, including Smart Media Tokens, plays out alongside EOS this year and beyond!
With Ethereum currently nearing $700USD and with EOS being likely to hugely surpass Ethereum in terms of it's capabilties - could we be headed for an EOS takeover and price jump up to hundreds of dollars per EOS token? We shall see!
Wishing you well,
