Centuries worth of observations and correct predictions and verifiable experimental results is not "just because".

Here is a fact: How can the sun travel in a straight line through the sky on a flat earth where the sun circles above us? It shouldn't do that on your flat earth, and yet it does. This is easily and gracefully explained by the standard model.
