A man that is able to help himself would not require the help of another. However, who will give an optimum help when we all have challenges to face and sorrows which require comfort? Reading the Gospel of John 5 reminds me of a song the Lord gave me some time back - "My Help will come from You". The lyrics of the song goes thus:
You are my help in times of need,
You are the treasure that I seek,
You are the one who makes a way,
Where there seems to be no way,
All of my help will come from You,
Your word is faithful, ever true,
Lord in everything I do,
It's only You I live to please.
All of my help will come from You
John 5: 2-9 (KJV):
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
We see a man who was helpless as recorded in Scripture from the above passage. For 38 years, he had remained in a helpless situation. No man, no brother, no friend. I keep wandering how he survived. He had lost hope of life that even when he saw the Saviour, he was still echoing his helpless situation of "I have no man".
Are you like the man and you have given up with life. It seems that everything in life is turning against you and you've lost the essence to live. Jesus Christ is coming your way through this message and it does not matter whether you have a man or not.
The help of God does not depend on the connections we have. He will show mercy and compassion to who He wishes to show. Remember the thief on the cross with our Lord Jesus? Even at the last minute, he was saved.
It is time we take off our hope from man and fix it on God. Man is limited in every sense but God is not. All it takes is for you to look up to God in expectation.
Faith in man will fail but in God won't. Let your hope be built on His word and deeds. He is all-powerful and merciful. Remember the Psalm of David 124 where he confessed that his help did not come from the mountain Gods but his help came from God.
I pray for you reading this blog that God's help will come your way - Amen.
