One of the most innovative documentaries that I've had the pleasure to be involved with went down in Kampot, Cambodia early June 2011...
"Songs From The Mekong" was developed by Crazy Canadian Steve Northcott along with his band buddy Gary Blanton. It was an extension of their own initiative called "On The Beat And Path" and intended to bring together 5 musicians from varying backgrounds to create 5 songs in 5 days in the Bodhi Villa studio in Kampot, Cambodia. I've never been one to shy away from new experiences so when Steve came to me and asked me if I wanted to be a part of it I was like "Hell Yeah!!!".
The Above video might add a bit of context to how I fit in with the project. Definitely gotta love the humor though!
I could ramble on about the experience, how meaningful and amazing it was and how it forever changed me, but I'll let the documentary speak for itself. It's almost an hour long, so I understand if you don't have time to check it between your Game Of Thrones marathon, but open it up in a new tab and save it for a rainy day! Enjoy!
You can preview the songs we created below... Why do I only have one lens? No, I'm supporting the Illuminati! In my mad rush from the money changer to catch my flight my sunnies fell to the ground and broke.. We missed the flight in the end, but you can hear about it all in the first song of the project...
