Free from muddy mires, Vanholio goes south, campin' at the western base a the Sierra Blanca. Specifically, Three Rivers Campground, 10 miles east of the same named New Mexico, USA town.
Looks like snow's about ta hit the high country. Doubt we'll get anythin' down here. But even if a little rain comes, the road out is maintained real good.
Speakin' a snow, "Sierra Blanca" is Spanish for "The White Mountains." Like I been bitchin' about up in the Jemez Mountains, these "sierra" oughta be more "blanca" this time a year. Usually, the tops a these mountains is solid white well inta April. Now there ain't but a dustin', and that's from tha other day, folks tell me.
It's a decent Forest Service campground. Normally, I don't like ta pay for it. But in this case, Vanholio's granted an exception. Besides, $6 a night ain't gonna bankrupt me. And look at that view!
