The name of this art photograph is: 'The Feather'
When I look at this photograph one things comes to mind. The "blue feather" from Illusions by Richard Bach. The ones who read the book will know exactly what I'm talking about. The rest of you - read it. It is a classic from the late seventies and a must read for everyone.
The rhythmic position of the planks is the main sub-element of this open composition, while the feather that breaks it is the main one. Notice that there is no perspective in the background. The two flat grey areas reveal no space at all.
The light comes from the left. It is visible in the appearance of the planks that get darker toward the right. All, but one. The sixth plank from the bottom defies that principle and, for some unexplainable reason, stays light through its entire length. Interesting, right?
The colour scheme is simple but very strong at the same time. Pink and green dominate the entire image. But, the top of the feather is yellow what creates an interesting accent. The texture of the wood also plays an important role against the smooth feather.
Enjoy! :)
