Margarita Island belongs to Venezuela and is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 40 kilometers north of the coast. This popular vacation destination is made up of two peninsulas linked by the sands and mangroves of Laguna de la Restinga National Park. Most of the population and tourism is concentrated in the eastern peninsula, where the cities of Pampatar, Porlamar and La Asunción are located.
