6 Days ago I presented the steemit community with a riddle and said I'd give the answer in 5 Days. I had a bunch of interesting replies. Those who attempted to solve it were @durzo @erh.germany @jaichai @pasanac
Thanks for stopping by and interacting. I had to defend someone important from abusive behavior and had to do a lot of commenting for some things I stand for like the NAP. So I'm sorry for being 1 day late. For those who new to the riddle you can Check it out here.
Unlike the previous riddle I wanted to explain this one a little. After all I called it a philosophical riddle. So here is the deal. I made this riddle out of a very clever and profound story I had heard about Buddha. In the purest form it's a question that delves into the endless nature of inquiry. Enlightenment comes through understanding and inquiring is a tool to reach there and not an end in itself.
Q: O Dear wise one, should I drink from the West bank or the East bank or from the middle?
I wasn't sure I'd be able to beat all your answers. But I didn't have a single answer that could have been considered a mic drop. The answer to end it all is......
Drink from the river. Not the bank. Not the middle. The River!
I'll let that sink in for a moment.........
Do you have any counter replies. I don't see any. There wasn't even a question to begin with. A is A. Drinking from the river means drinking from the damn bloody beautiful river. Everything was perfect to begin with. This story I transformed into a riddle is one of the most important life advises I've come across. Maybe a kid could have given a better answer than the replies I got. Maybe even a mentally challenged person could have given the right answer. Sometimes less is really more.
Our world is full of artificial layers whether they are metaphysical, social, physical or psychological. Sometimes life's problems are like The Gordian Knot but with a difference. People don't realize that what's in front of them is a Gordian Knot. I'll paraphrase a popular nugget of wisdom in the financial world. "Trading/Stock market is all about buying low and selling high. The only challenge is knowing which is high and which is low".
What I consider the highest virtues in existence are Wisdom, Insight and Transcendence. One gains wisdom through insight through which he/she achieves Transcendence. I meant Transcendence in a very real sense. As humans understood molecules better which led to understanding elements and then sub-atomic particles............ so on and so forth they became more powerful. These days scientists are creating new elements and even very tiny Black Holes. We can engineer whole new species and exchange billions of dollars worth assets over the net in a matter of seconds with someone from the other side of the world. We don't adapt to the nature very much because we understand it.
Take my riddle and pick it apart. A debater was asked to drink some water from the river and get refreshed. The debater brought up a question about river banks and a middle of a river. That's like picking up different fonts of the same letter and asking which one is the real letter. If you are talking about a real letter, you already know the real letter. So stop playing with symbols.
Insight is a different kind of seeing. It's a way of deconstructing things to see what they are made of. Life is made of complications and less of it is always better. Keep it simple people. 1+1 may equal 2 but in binary numbers 1+1 actually equals 10. When faced with a problem don't search in your head for an answer at first. Instead check your premises.
If you asked someone to drink from a river and they keep talking some drivel about river banks, tell them to get their act together instead of thinking which shore is better or whether you should balance things out in a middle. Problems don't disappear with answers. Problems disappear when the reasons that brought them into this world break apart.
