Some of you might recognize this as a quote from the movie Scarface but I'm referring to my twin sister's 4 year old son, Miko.
Since last Friday, I'm on a little road trip through Portugal, with my twin sister, her boyfriend and their kids Miko (4) and Yumi (2). This little trip is actually part of a way bigger trip. We are aiming to find ourselves a piece of land with either a house or two or the possibility to construct some housing there. Even ruins are welcome or - who knows - we might even build ourselves a mudhouse or - I like this scifi-esque word - an 'earthship'.
Right now, we're on a little holiday though, mainly visiting beaches as well as camping - or should I say campering - as close to the beach as possible. Yesterday, we arrived in the Algarve, famous for its beautiful beaches as well as being a surfer's paradise.
I promised Miko to go on an adventure with him every single day, as it's a fun thing for both of us. Today, my little friend and I - he used to call me 'grote vriend' (Dutch for big friend) - went on an adventurous walk/ climb on the green hills along the coast. We brought a bag with walnuts, apples, water and some juice along, to give us the right amount of strength in the legs and arms that we needed to go on.
During this hike, we had to overcome some obstacles; huge puddles of water, drift sand ( at least that's how I called it to make the adventure even more exciting), a small ridge along the rocks, windy hills and steep climbs and even steeper descends. We made sure to take plenty of breaks, to replenish ourselves and rest our four legs (in case you wondered, we both have two legs).
I had to carry my little friend twice to walk along the rocky ridge and jump over a creek.
This was today's adventure and it was a fun one. Right now my sister, her boyfriend and Yumi are on a little trip themselves, which gave me just enough time to write this post. They actually returned while I wrote that sentence but now Miko is out with his father to eat an ice cream, Yumi is watching some Peppa Pig and my sister is cooking.
