Today I’d like to share with you some photos from a recent live personal development program I’ve been running this August. This intensive four-day program was designed for an individual client whose goal was to clarify his vision for the next few years.
The main format I used was coaching during long walks on nature and individual exercises on powerful natural or historical places. One full day was dedicated to a pilgrimage — on this day we walked together about 15 km and climbed a 1 km high mountain. We were using our route as a metaphor of a life path, with the ascension being a way to review life on its different levels, from current projects to short- and long-term goals and finally the life mission.
The program worked very well. It would take too long to explain it in detail, but be assured it was as inspiring as the places the photos of which I’m sharing.
České Budějovice
We started the program with a walk by České Budějovice, the capital of Southern Bohemia.
A view on České Budějovice from the Black Tower.
The Black Tower is a 9-floor bell tower constructed in 16th century to protect the city against fires and enemies. Oddly enough, it served as the home to the guard, his family and even his goat until as late as 1956.
The Black Tower has five bells.

Nové Hrady
Nové Hrady, a small historical town located near Novohradské mountains, was the program’s base location.
Nové Hrady in the evening we’ve started the program.
Our morning walks were taking place in the town’s beautiful surroundings.
The Wedding Oak in Theresia's Valley
The places of Power: our daily afternoon destinations
The Trinity church in Trhové Sviny...
... with an unusual triangle chapel located on a healing spring.
The Natural Stage in Hradek, a possible place of ancient rituals...
... lost in the woods ...
... with a Runic stone.
The Pilgrimage
This abandoned chapel in the fields was serving German dwellers. They were evicted from this land after the WWII.
The Church of St. Nicolas in Horní Stropnice is eight centuries old and bears the traces of Roman, Gothic and Baroque architectural styles.
The Pyramid, our first point of the life review during the ascension.
A peaceful view on nearby fields and towns.
The church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Dobrá Voda.
A breathtaking view from the mountain’s top tower.
The Napoleon rock on Kraví Mountain.
The Sungate Monument with Meditation Bell at Hojná Voda.
Maidstein Castle
A Baroque chapel near a big ancient Celtic oppidum on the road to Maidstein Castle.
The ruins of Maidstein Castle.
Maidstein Castle is one of the largest extant Gothic castle ruins in Czechia.
Český Krumlov
The program ended in Český Krumlov, the most beautiful town of South Bohemia… but this is for the next trip!
The photos were made by me during the program.
