A month ago, I have an exciting traveling to Turkiye. To be honest I have no plan to Turkeyi in back then. I have plan to another country but accidentally I finally agree to travel to Turkiye. I didn't be solo travel, I follow the travel agent so I have 10 peoples alongside me include .
Detail of our journey will be released soon.
So, after the long flight, I and all peoples on trip (hereinafter will be mention as we/us) went to Bosporus Strait and another place in Istanbul. It's our day 1 in Turkiye but we have no long schedule there cause almost dark when we were arrived. So we just had 1 schedule in Istanbul, It was get on board in Bosporus Strait.
At 19:00 in local time, we had dinner in Chinese Restaurant near to Hagia Sofia and blue mosque area. Although it was chinese restaurant, nothing chinese staff there and their menus that they were served for us are not chinese cuisine. It was the local cuisine.
THE WOX, CHINESE RESTO in ISTANBUL
The Wox resto has 2 floor meanwhile we were eaten in first floor. The exterior of The WOX Resto was classic with red color and chinese lamp. I think if they not use that lamp, costumer can't recognize it as chinese resto. It will looks like common resto in Turkey.
Beside the lamp, there's lucky cat in front of the resto and one frame with letter The WOX on the wall. In first floor, there are 4 table then we were used 3 table.
I and sat with the three dashing mom. While eating, they were told us about their experience during travel in other country. Yes, they were three musketeers who is travel together. And we get their spirit to has another journey after from there.
I will spill the tea in other post of course
THE WOX WAS SERVED TURKEY CUISINE
Turkey has many dish as their dish. Like the picture above, it just appetizers not main menu.
They were served salad, bread, slices of orange, olive oil, chili powder, black pepper powder, and chili sauce on the table.
The Mandatory Menu
Bread
Turkey has the mandatory menu as their appetizers. It was bread. In Turkey, everyone eat with bread. Our tour guide was said that bread is the mandatory dish in turkey. For turkish, no bread no life. Like Indonesian, no rice no life. So they will mix anything that they will eat with bread. For example, noodles with bread, pizza with bread, soup with bread, and etc. No bread no life.
A little story about how the bread could be their mandatory menu in Turkey because their have no paddy field their. Their country has so many wheat field, so that's why Turkish make bread as their staple food. If you travel in Turkey, you will found out bread everywhere and anytime.
There's a interesting good habits of Turkish. It's about sharing. If someone bought the breads they will share with all peoples with paid two and take one. They will take one bread, meanwhile other bread they will leave it to the shop. Then the bread shop will share with everyone who's need is.
This good habbit ever be viral on social media and I was like, wow! They are sic!
Salad
Another mandatory dish you will find in Turkey was Salad. The ingredients of salad mostly was paprika, carrot, lettuce, and violet mustard. I think you can guess how the taste. This salad will more delicious if you add the pomegranate sauce and I'm so in love with all salads there.
Soup
In Turkey, before you eat, you will served by a soup. This soup can be made by anything ingredients but mostly it made by lentil, chicken, and wheat. The texture of Turkey soup is totally different from Indonesian soup. Turkish Soup is more like, you know, it's like they were blended all ingredients cause the soup was so lumpy.
I have eaten several soup in Turkey and my favorite was chicken soup. So it was contain by the little slice of chicken meat and something looks like rice. So I don't need rice again to enjoying that soup.
The lentil soup, may be I'm not familiar yet with that soup. I think If I stay in Turkey I'm gonna like that soup. That soup was so lumpy but the taste, a little bargain and less msg, but sometimes I can enjoy it!
For me, Indonesian, just with all appetizer make me full. But it ain't stop with that. It just appetizers and now let me introduce you to some new thangs... (it's the opening lyric of song entitled Kick it!)
THE MAIN MENU in THE WOX RESTO
After all that appetizers, we were reach the main menu of our dinner (and I'm already full)
I can't remember what that name. But our tour guide was said that their menu special for us cause we are Indonesian who can life without rice.
So that main menu was rice with chicken dry curry, potatoes, and paprika.
There's interesting thing about that rice. So it is not regular rice like you just cook the rice in the magic jar and waiting until the red button switch to the orange button. That was like Nasi Lemak or Nasi Liwet in Indonesia. So it's so heavy for me who's already full. About the taste, not bad, tasty.
I'm not sure about that chicken meat. Is that curry or chicken grilled. But the taste not bad too, it also tasty.
And the another side dish there was slice of potatoes. Besides bread, In turkey you will find potatoes everywhere anytime. Instead bread, I more like potatoes. In everywhere I seen the potatoes, I will add that in my plate.
For that main menu, I left the chicken and the rice but not about potatoes. That potatoes was so tasty and crunchy. I really like it. Cause I felt the msg there. Hahaha...
ADDITION
I really forgot to capture another sauce there. I think that was I really hungry and want to eat first haha. But I have captured the addition that I like.
It's like chili sauce but has different taste from chili sauce in Indonesia. It taste fresh and not spicy.
This is an appetizers actually but just because I enjoy it after eat, I add it as addition. It was slice of orange. In Turkey, like a bread, slice of orange was a mandatory appetizers there. The taste is sweet, not sour.
And it's my favorite cause has a same texture and same taste with chili shrimp in Indonesia. It's little bit spicy.
That was my first precious experience in Turkey. We are rarely eat in Resto but in every resto that we have visited has delicious food. The Wox is my first resto in Turkey, and after that, I will post another resto, may be not in anytime soon but I will.
Thank's to you who are read my blog until this point.
