Lumpini Park is known as Bangkok’s first public park. It’s a huge green space and recreation area in the heart of the city. It can be easily accessed on the MRT, Bangkok’s underground subway.
My first time visiting the park was over a year ago for a date with my then girlfriend, and now wife. The park served us well and we didn’t regret going.
Today my visit was for exercise. Not anything serious, just some light walking. If you're a runner or walker (like me) Lumpini has everything you need: miles of safe paved roads, beautiful scenery, and other runners, of all ages, to keep you motivated.
If you're interested in other types of exercise Lumpini has facilities for you. There were people lifting weights in both of the park's outdoor gyms. There were even people practicing Muy Thai and Thai Chi.
There was also a surprising amount of wildlife, if you're interested in that sort of thing. We saw crows, cats, and someone was 'walking' their turtle. I didn't know 'walking' a turtle was a thing.
Nearly every creek, lake, or Khlong in Thailand has a family of Monitor Lizards.
Beautiful artwork and architecture lined the streets, making Lunpini Park the perfect place to reflect, get inspired, or take photos.
Lumphini Park can't be beat! If you're ever in Bangkok you should definitely check it out! Safe travels!
