If the NRA owns Trump, Marco Rubio, Florida Governor and other Republicians that must mean they're one of the top lobbying groups in Washington right? Spending tens of millions every year to keep the politicians in their pockets and supporting guns. Well, David Hogg wash seems to think so and has been attacking the NRA almost everyday since the Parkland shooting.
So where does the NRA rank in terms of money spend on lobbying Washington DC?
Lobbying’s top 50 pour $540M into influence campaigns
The top 50 lobbying spenders in Washington, hailing almost exclusively from corporate America, spent more than $540 million on influence campaigns last year.
That total represents almost a quarter of the $3.34 billion that was spent overall on lobbying and a modest increase over the amount the top 50 organizations spent in 2016.
I see big oil, big pharam, the military industrial complex, telecoms and even open society that is funded by Soros but no NRA in the top 50 surely this must be a mistake. The NRA is such and evil and powerful lobbying firm in Washington according the Mr. Hogg wash.
Ah here we go, some actual numbers of the NRA spending in 2017.
NRA Lobbying Spending Hits New High in 2017
Oh this doesn't sound good Hogg might be right...
In the first two quarters of 2017, the National Rifle Association has already spent more on lobbying than it did in all of last year.
The gun group has spent $3.2 million from January 1 to June 30 trying to advance its policy agenda, according to an analysis of data provided by Open Secrets, a campaign finance and lobbying watchdog. In 2016, the group spent $3.18 million pleading its case to legislators and federal agencies.
3.2 million is all. That might get them on the bottom of the top 100 list but no where near 82 million that the US chamber of commerce spend last year. Historical the NRA has spend under one million on lobbying. no where near the power these other companies have in Washington.
So why does Mr Hogg wash keep saying the NRA owns everyone? Because he thinks you're stupid and you will believe whatever he says because he's on CNN now. Well, I think most people are smarter than Hogg and will see through the shit that Mr. Hogg rolls around in.
