Pillar had a live stream event on youtube today where they rolled out a rough draft stage of the pillar wallet. I have to say it looks pretty cool and seems to be geared towards your average smart phone user and not someone that is computer savvy.
They are definitely looking ahead to future with a design geared towards paying contacts rather than a big long wallet address. It looks more like a social media app rather than a crypto wallet. I think that will be less intimidating to the newbies out there.
Here are some screen shots from the presentation today.
This is your asset screen and shows how much crypto you are holding.
Send and Receive screen with what looks to be a place to buy and sell cryptos at the bottom.
Contact page were you can send crypto to people rather than wallet addresses.
Then you have a support page with maybe a community chat feature so you can talk to other pillar wallet holders.

Looks like a really cool wallet, can't wait to start testing it out in the beta phase. I hope they let you trade all the ERC20 tokens on the wallet so I don't have to mess with Etherdelta. God I hate buying and selling on that site because it's not very user friendly.
