When I was a kid, riding a bicycle was so mainstream. Almost all the children in my neighborhood knows to ride one. We don't have a bike then, nothing to practice to learn to ride one. The only bike in our compound was the one assembled by my grandfather. Too big or too tall for me. I was afraid of heights back then. Anything taller than me was scary.
Somedays, a close friend of our family come to our house with his bike. I usually borrow it and try to ride it at the back of the house. I had no formal training. I just remember someone helped me to get on the seat and somehow taught me to ride. The moment I learned to seat on the bike, I went on the road doing free one hand or sometimes a bit of no hands.
Riding a bike gives me a sense of freedom. It gives me a happy feeling that I can go anywhere I want to.
