Today I'm bringing you the lowdown on one of my absolute fave breakfasts - grilled pork with sticky rice. Now, if you're a street food lover like me, then you know that Thailand is THE place to be. And boy, oh boy, grilled pork and sticky rice if you know what I'm talking about..
As a kid, my go-to brekkie was always either rice soup or congee, but grilled pork with sticky rice was always a close second. It's just one of those dishes that brings back all those warm and fuzzy nostalgic feelings. These days, I still indulge in grilled pork with sticky rice a few times a week because let's face it - it's damn delicious, easy to get hold of as it's everywhere you go here in Thailand, and super affordable. I mean, where else can you get a tasty meal for just a buck?!
Now, let's talk about my grilled pork and sticky rice journey here in Chiang Mai, where I've been on the hunt for the BEST grilled pork with sticky rice in town. I've already shared one of my fave spots with you, but today I'm bringing you another gem located right across the street from Akha Ama Coffee in old town. I can't share with you the exact spot on Maps because there's none. Beware! This place sells out faster than I can say "sticky rice" so get there early. around 8-9 AM it would all be gone!
What I love about this joint is that it's a real local spot run by a Thai local. There are a few different types of pork to choose from, but my personal faves are the sweet skewers or the big pieces of grilled pork served whole with a little saltiness. And if you're like me and you love a bit of spice, they've got a range of chili pastes to choose from. Of course, the sticky rice is a must-have and just ties everything together perfectly.
A real hidden gem of a spot that only the locals know about. If you're ever in Chiang Mai and you're craving some delicious grilled pork with sticky rice, this is the place to go and again, IYKYK. You're so welcome!
