When the Spaniards came to the island of Cebu, they began exploring it until they reached a certain island in the north. It was Christmas when they arrived on the island and they were suppose to celebrate but sadly, a storm came to the island. Thus, the name Malapascua came as a result of saying “Malas Sa Pasko” or “Unfortunate Christmas.”
Malapascua Island is also known as “Logon,” the name of the area which is the main community of the island. The name “Logon” came to be when the Spanish and Japanese forces fought on the island during the 2nd World War.
The island of Malapascua takes pride of its 3 kilometer long and 1 kilometer wide scenic and natural beauty. With a population of more or less 3,000, the island is also home to a beautiful stretch of white sand beach and clear blue waters.
For those who love to take a trek, the island can be circumnavigated in about 2 hours.

Behold, a glimpse of the paradise island of Malapascua.
First stop, Bantigue. The famous beach is the Langob Beach Heaven. This is by far the best shores in the island and I think among the best in the entire Cebu. The best thing about this spot, its unspoiled and not mainstream.
The west side of the island has been a favorite site for swimming and snorkeling, although caution must be maintained because the island weather is unpredictable. The place is named Lapus Lapus Island and Lapus Lapus Cliffs. Lapus Lapus because you go through from different direction.
Malapscua island, though famous for its famous beach and is dubbed the Boracay of Cebu, is also a famous diving destination. Many divers go here to dive. Its seawater is teeming with tiger sharks.
There you have it, a glimpse of the island of Malapascua in the northern part of Cebu, Philippines.
