I stumbled across Steemit while doing research on EOS and I'm proud to join the community. Amazing that with all the attention Ethereum is getting, to find out that Dan had the original concept for DAO and invented DPOS! Wait until that revelation hits mainstream...
Originally I had some interest in cryptocurrencies around 2010 when Bitcoin first came out but i didn't "get it" back then. I thought it was probably a fad, and besides how would you spend it anyway? I though of it more as a solution for sending a friend some money, say to split a check for lunch, rather than something that could revolutionize financial markets and the internet itself. Fast forward to May of this year when a friend of mine showed me how much money a guy he knew made with the Waves ICO, and a colleague of mine telling me about how he bought $20 worth of Bitcoin in 2013, spent most of it, and still made hundreds of dollars. Those two events started me on my blockchain journey and now I'm a firm believer that this will change everything. I've learned a lot, but something tells me I have a long way to go!
On to InfoSec! I've been in IT for all of my career and have a strong interest in Information Security. In fact, I recently started a YouTube channel called "Basic Info Security" and website (http://www.basicinfosecurity.com) to help everyday people understand the essentials of staying safe and why it matters to them. I found that even in it's simplest form, the way security topics are taught is still pretty advanced for the common user to understand... and even more so for the elderly. My idea of basic security does not include teaching others how to read binary for example. My goal is to bridge the gap!
I welcome comments, feedback and suggestions on either of my new journeys. Thanks for reading!
