Well funny enough neither have I but it's a good way to stir up interest in my fourth consecutive day of blogging. Well thanks to and his earlier post on his Niue panda collection, I thought I'd share mine with you.
It's a very limited set as you can see but we all know the premiums that come along with trying to buy good quality second hand pandas. I originally bought the 2015 panda as my son was born in the December of that year and when I started stacking silver, in early 2016, I had this crazy idea that I would try and buy all the silver coins minted that year. Being new to stacking at the time it seemed like a great idea until I realised the amount of different designs/mints and the price of buying a 1oz silver coin.
As my knowledge of the silver market grew and my taste in certain countries coins increased I found myself drawn to the Chinese pandas not only for their ever changing, yearly designs but over time their prices have steadily increased and offered great returns should I ever decide to sell up. So far I have managed to collect the 2013, 2014, 2015(X2) and a 2016.
The 2013 is probably my favourite design in my collection. Simply because it's got more than 1 panda on it.
My 2014 panda, as you can see is gold gilded. The panda I originally bought was not meant to be, so when it arrived I contacted the seller to say I think he has sent me the wrong one(which was about £20 more expensive than the one I ordered). He told me that because of my honesty and that it was his mistake I could keep it. #winnerwinnerchickendinner Needles to say I have bought several other coins through this eBay dealer because of his generosity but unfortunately I've not had an "upgrade" on any of my subsequent orders.
Above are my 2015s. Not much to say really, simple, elegant and a great coin to have in the collection. The 2015 coin has no weight indicator I.E 1oz on it. IF ANYONE IS UP FOR A TRADE FOR 1 OF MY 2015 FOR A 2012 OR EARLIER PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Finally my 2016 Chinese panda. This was the year I think they switched to 30g and not 1oz. Don't ask me why they did.... Same price, less silver content would be my guess!!
