Good day, family! Hope we’re
All is doing great.

Finally, our chicks have moved to their new and permanent home, and I couldn’t be happier for them. They are seven days old today and already adjusting to their new space.
In my previous post, @wewarriors-28/prepping-for-christmas-investing-in I
shared how my family has made it a yearly tradition to raise chicks into chickens for Christmas.

Since this year’s batch arrived a bit late, my mom, who takes care of them, decided to feed them three times a day for now, until they grow bigger. Once they start growing, she’ll return to feeding them twice daily.
Earlier, we kept the twelve chicks in an open 25-litre gallon as their temporary home while we prepared and disinfected their pen. Yesterday, we finally cleaned and got their pen ready. We started by clearing the area, sweeping thoroughly, and washing the walls.
Now, there’s this thing, mummy usually

She sprinkles hot ashes with a few fire sparks around the pen and leaves it for a while before sweeping it out. She says it helps kill any tiny insects that might harm the chicks. Unfortunately, we couldn’t obtain any hot ashes from our neighbours this time, so I suggested using an insect repellent instead, and it worked just fine.

After cleaning, we spread some old flex banners on the floor. They make it easier to clean up later and keep the place tidy. We also covered their window with some pieces of the flex banner to create a warm atmosphere. Once the pen was ventilated correctly, we gently moved our little chicks from their gallon house into their new home.
They now have plenty of space to move around and grow for Christmas. Lol
Thank you for reading. Have a blessed Friday.
