I knew that school started to give out scholarships for esports. I knew it was a growing field. But I didn't know Fortnite was on the list. Well now it is. The biggest game right now can earn you a scholarship to an Ohio university if you got the skills. I so would've went for this if I was in my teens. Here I was trying to play sports :p. That was a joke I sucked at sports. Now if there was a Tetris scholarship maybe...
What I wonder is how do they decide who makes it or not. Fortnite is a game of skill but there are a lot of chance elements in it. You need to find loot which is random and you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time and die early. It happens to the top gamers so I can see it being hard to judge.
I think this is awesome, go esports. But again I am a geek so this is nothing new :p. I wonder how long it will be before we really see the number of viewers match traditional sports. I know LOL tournaments get major views. And fortnite, with its popular can push the scene even further.
What game would you be good enough for a scholarship for?
