Did you think we were going to leave human nature at the door of the Steem blockchain? There are people who want/need help and some that find giving them that assistance gratifying. There are people who desire achievement and social status, some would call it greed. I call it human behavior.
Can we choose to "evolve" human behavior into something different than what it currently is?
I don't know if we can, but I do know that we haven't and I don't mind a bit. I am fine with either ideal and those in the middle. I consider both helpers and those who accumulate to be the same. They are both seeking a feeling state that feels good to them and they are just using different means to get there. I'm not saying that it either philosophy can't be taken too far, but the gray area for me is, What is too far? That is a large spectrum. To me each group is just seeking their own currency.
It isn't my concern which group you fall into, and personally I can go back and forth to some degree, looking for balance. My point is we all have different things that make us feel good, and when we came to Steem we didn't leave our human behaviors behind.
I get confused by those who seem to think this was supposed to be some kind of Wealth Creator, without effort. It takes something to make something. It can be many things. Effort, Time, Talent, Money, Looks, Sympathy, but you have to bring something that people want to buy or reward. My least favorite expression:
STEEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT ____________.
I especially hate it when I say it, and I have.
Steem is social site and experiment, but it is a human experience, ruled by human behavior. Asking others to adopt your worldview is fine, expecting them to adopt your view is frustrating. I leave that work to others.
So, maybe you want to change the world, I sometimes try as well, but mostly I enjoy observing it.
In any case telling everyone else how to think and how to behave and how they should handle and view money likely will only work if they are seeking a new solution.
I don't know about you, but I didn't leave my human behaviors at the door.
What a messy and awesome experiment!
