I'd been feeling sick and stayed in bed (or on the couch) for a couple of days, and for the first time ever, I was actually feeling grateful that it seemed to be just a fibro-flare and/or cold. I still have chills yesterday morning, but at least I could taste and smell and breathe without difficulty.
My compassion to those who've had to battle COVID.
But something wasn't quite "right." This general mal-aise had taken me somewhat out of touch with the news and the eternal stream of horrors pushed in our collective doors from the outer world.
My daughter said it first; subsequently one of my oldest and dearest teachers said it a few moments ago before I got off the phone: *"You're an extraordinary empath — you've been feeling sick because there was a 'Disturbance In The Force'... worse than it has been in YEARS for the USA. You have family and loved ones all over this nation. Ohio, Minnesota, and people you counsel in practically every major city. You're feeling it!"
Honestly?
Whereas I was peripherally aware of what had happened in Minneapolis, I also had no idea it had escalated the way it had over the weekend and by Saturday afternoon I was under the covers shivering and wondering why I wasn't registering a fever. I presumed then that my thermometer was broken. I was grateful for heavy blankets.
My gratitude extended to the ancient packages of Top Ramen I found in the back of my pantry too.
Around 1:00am this morning I began feeling better.
Now my heart understands why it felt like it was breaking.
It was.
We can't always see everything between Heaven and Earth, but sometimes we still experience what the greater world is feeling... even if some minor "local" circumstance (like a minor illness) takes us out of the loop.
If you are also a deeply empathic person, remember that the feelings you are experiencing aren't necessarily all your own. Sometimes you are feeling many hearts breaking; other people's hearts.
And practicing self-care while caring for others is important.
Bright Blessings!
You are not alone!
