Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn)
Wat Arun is called the Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan. They used to call it the Wat Makok during the Ayutthaya period. This Buddhist place of worship is in Bangkok, near the Chao Phraya River. It is a wat in honor of the Hindu God name Aruna or the sun rays. Being the top three tourist attraction in Thailand, Wat Arun is also one of the country’s landmarks. It was created in 1656 and has been used as a prayer temple for Theravada Buddhism followers.
