On the North Coast of Varadero on the shore of one of the best beaches in Cuba, we find this paradisiacal place with one of the most beautiful architectural jewels in the country, the Xanadu Mansion. Built in the 1920s by the business magnate Irénée du Pont, it is undeniably an undeniable beauty.

This mansion was designed by the architects Félix Cavarrocas and Evelio Govantes, and its name was related to a poem about the construction of a majestic palace belonging to Emperor Kublai Khan.
Conceived as the first stonework building in Varadero with three floors, seven rooms, three terraces (one of them converted into a bar), seven balconies, a pier, a golf course and a wine cellar. In addition, it is located on the most important beach in Cuba, about 140 kilometers east of Havana.

Its owner sent for precious woods from the east of the country for the construction of its roof, doors, railings and solid columns, its bathrooms were decorated with Italian marble, and as curious facts: its main balcony was built very similar to the stern of a ship and the dressing room from the beach to a cabin.

Despite its unique privileged location, this mansion has no obvious formal relationship with other Cuban constructions, it is a truly unique monument, designed with ideas brought by Du Pont.
It has been declared a National Monument, both its original construction and the furniture of the time have remained intact over the years, which makes it even older and full of value, preserving its widest splendor.
