Today I will write about Tenjin, which I visited on March 8 during my stay in Fukuoka.
Tenjin is the central area of Fukuoka. It is a downtown area with department stores, shopping buildings, underground shopping malls, and shopping arcades.
First of all, Iwataya Department Store. It is a department store in Fukuoka. I went to see an exhibition of contemporary art at this department store. I was surprised to see that most of the paintings were priced 10 to 100 times higher than mine, and that they were selling well. I realized once again that my paintings are reasonably priced. I could not take pictures of the exhibition in the event hall.
Instead, there was a work displayed in a gallery on another floor of the museum, but I could not take a picture of it either. The artist seems to be designing characters and other objects.
And then there is the Shintencho shopping street. It is bustling with many stores, but according to a Fukuoka resident, the store owners are getting older.
I had an early lunch, or rather morning breakfast, at a cafe called PRONTO. It was delicious. I really wanted to go to the long-established coffee shop across the street, but it was full.
It was a day when I fully enjoyed the liveliness of the downtown area and the bustle of the shopping district.

今日は福岡滞在中の3/8に行った天神のことについて書きます。
天神は、福岡の中心街です。デパートやショッピングビル、地下街や商店街がある繁華街です。
まずは岩田屋です。福岡のデパートです。ここの催事場で現代アートの展覧会をやっていたので観に行きました。だいたいの絵が私の絵の10倍～100倍の値段がついていて、しかもそれが売れていることにびっくりしました。私の絵なんて手頃な価格だなあということを再認識しました。催事場の展覧会の写真は撮れませんでした。
代わりに館内の別フロアのギャラリーに展示されていた作品もありましたが、こちらも撮れませんでした。この作者はキャラクターなどのデザインをしているようです。
そして新天町商店街です。たくさんの店が入って賑わっておりますが、福岡の人に聞いたところ店主の高齢化が目立つそうです。
少し早い昼食、というよりモーニングはPRONTOというカフェで頂きました。美味しかったです。本当は向かいにある老舗の喫茶店に行きたかったのですが満員でした。
繁華街の活気、商店街の賑やかさを存分に味わった日でした。
