Today I had dinner in Tanto Japanese restaurant. This is my go-to restaurant for Japanese food in the Bay Area.
With 4 out 5 stars rating and over 1,000 reviews, this restaurant is very popular. It opens on 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. I normally will be there before 5:45pm to make sure I can be seated in the first batch since the restaurant can only hold 30~40 people.
I like Yaki Onigiri (Grilled rice ball) the most. Actually everything grilled or fried on the menu is good in this restaurant.
Although I've been to this restaurant couple times, it was my first time ordering dessert here. The waitress did mention that one ice cream should be sufficient for 2 - 3 people. But I was still shocked at how large it is.
In other Japanese restaurants, ice cream is normally served in one or two scoops with mochi and red beans. But here, it was almost 1 pint (~500ml). That's the hugest ice cream I've ever had in a Japanese restaurant! The iPhone on the photo is an iPhone 7s by the way.
今天和朋友去Tanto居酒屋小聚。只要是想吃日料了,我就会去这家报到。
这家店Yelp评分四星,有一千多条评论,在周边地区非常受欢迎,因此总是还没开门就排起了长龙。周末只开晚市,六点开门,我一般五点三刻前到,保证能第一批进去坐下。目测店里一次能容纳三四十个人。
我最喜欢那里的烤饭团,表层的米饭煎得金黄,香香脆脆的,还覆盖着鱼籽和小鱼干。菜单上其他煎炸烤物都很好吃。生鱼片说不上惊艳,但到日料店总是要点一下,不然好像缺了什么似的。
虽然去了几次了,今天是我第一次在他家吃甜点。刚开始还想说一人点一个,服务员说一个就够两三人吃了。然而端上来我还是惊到了——这是我有生之年在日料店见过最巨型的冰淇淋!
一般日料店不都追求小而美,一两个冰淇淋球,旁边装饰些麻糬红豆之类的。这目测能有400 - 500ml, 刷新了我对日料店,不对,在美国的日料店的认知。(照片上的手机是iPhone 7s.)
