No I didn't mean Love Guy, I mean Lab guy. Sorry I mistyped.
Hello everyone! How are you all? I was the Lab guy last Saturday since Paula, the Laboratory attendant took a leave of absence to attend a friend's wedding in her home town.
Have you ever been invited to a wedding party before? How does it feel like? I've been invited before but I went there when the wedding and the wedding party is over. Funny ain't it?
Anyway, you might wonder why we had to do this, I work on a feed mill manufacturer and we use corn, soya, wheat and more to make animals feeds. It's a pretty huge factory and
I don't have a degree related to chemistry, nor does Paula but this laboratory doesn't require it. We only had to check the quality of the raw materials we are about to receive and we are more like quality assurance personnels.
Even so, I had to put on a lab gown and goggles for safety. Corn, soya and feedwheatsa re so dusty and I had to protect my clothes and my skin especially my eyes from the itchy dust. I purposedly wore the lab gown in reverse to fully utilise the protection it gives. Also, I had to wear face masks, good thing I never gave up on wearing them. I easily get cough because of my allergies, char.

Occasions like this is rare so I took remembrance; it's not every day that they wash the lab gowns too.
here are some of the things I worked with that day
I love corn, it is something that I grew up with and it is precious to me because my parents are farmers. I truly appreciate the corn's color. It looks gold to me and I treat it that way.

It has not rained for a few weeks in my place that is why corn grains are beautiful,, in fact near perfection. It is because when farmers harvest their crops, it only takes a little time for them to dry it under the sun. But when rainy season comes, and the corn grains takes a bit longer to dry because of moist, most of the grains will be growing but will be stopped causing the "eyes" to darken.

I processed some crude coconut oil too, it is not meant for cooking because it is fed grade. Animals need fat in feeds to have fats that will be converted to energy.

To know whether the oils has passed the set standards, there is this Near Infrared Spectroscopy machine that analyzes its quality.
A sample is put in a special cup and placed on the glass on the machine and will be covered. A light bulb is then lit inside once the machine is commanded via computer and ll the necessary data is entried.

Here is a sample of barley that is infested with weevils. This truckload of barley will not be unloaded because of it. Just a small spec of them will infest the whole warehouse and will possibly affect the finished good also. But you see, pests like them are going to infest anywhere because they are always striving to survive and multiply.

My phone camera was not able to catch a sharp image of a moving weevil and I'm sorry for that.

Tending the lab is fun, I enjoyed it a lot especially the peace it had. I was away from noise and disturbance. Only, I was not able to access my computer for the blog yet I used the time I had in crocheting.
And oh, I'm going to share my snap on how hot and bright the day was. It was almost blinding and it really hurts my eyes.

I finished all the transactions at 4 in the afternoon, and I went back to the office. I surely missed its peace and quiet but I had to endure and in fact, I am still thankful for what I had.
This will be all for now, thank you for the visit and support. See ya around and keep safe
