A side hustle is simply any extra way that a student can make money while he or she is still in school. These days, it has become something very important for many students around the world. It contributes a lot to helping them survive and stay stable, especially with how things are getting more expensive.
Taking a look at the rising cost of goods and services nowadays, it's very advisable that every student should have a side hustle, especially my fellow Nigerians schooling in a country.it might not be easy for such a person to cope in school.
Side hustles come in different forms, and it all depends on what a student likes doing or what they are good at. Everyone has something they can offer, depending on what the individual is capable of doing based on their talents and skills. For example, some students may decide to go into graphic design, branding, or logo creation. I know there are people who may not have digital skills, so they can do offline jobs like running errands or helping their fellow students or friends with things like assignments, etc. In all, everything is determined by one's choice and ability.
Honestly, I believe every student should try to have a side hustle because the cost of living is not smiling at anyone right now. Food is expensive, transportation is rising, and even basic things are not cheap anymore. Even if a student is on a scholarship, having a side hustle can still make a big difference. With that, it's going to reduce how much students depend on their parents or guardians and help them handle small daily expenses on their own without continuously seeking pocket money. Another good thing about side hustles is that they can help you grow personally because you will not just be earning money from them, you will also begin to learn how responsibilities are managed gradually. You begin to understand how money works and how to manage it wisely. With time, that small hustle can even turn into something bigger, maybe even a full-time job after school, especially if getting a job becomes difficult for you.
For me personally, during my school days, I was good at graphic design, but I didn’t really use it as a side hustle. Instead, I helped my uncle, who was also my guardian, in his provision, cosmetics, and wine business. Because of him, I didn’t really lack anything in school. But looking back now, if I didn’t have his support, I would have definitely used my graphic design skills, especially logo creation, as my side hustle.
At the end of the day, having a side hustle is a smart move for any student, whether in secondary school or a higher institution. It helps you stand on your own, even if it’s done in a little way. And with how things are going in the world today, that little support can go a long way. Thanks for visiting my blog 👍
