Intro
Hello community. I was downloading Minecraft to get on the new server and hang out. In the meantime, as always, I'm remembering the entertaining games that can be run on low resource PCs.
I am a big fan of survival games. As a child, I didn't get addicted to this genre until I managed to install Terraria on my mother's laptop.
In the end, I left my vacation character on the hard drive.
It was a lot of hours of play.
Before joining the server I was already playing Terraria creating a new character and everything.
But since I "already know how to play" I decided to create this kind of character who loses the items he has on him when he dies. There is an even more hardcore class, in which if you die your character is deleted. No respawn and game over.
This hardcore game mode will be tested at a later date.
The beginning
A good pixel art and the 2D view is what we will see in this game.
In spite of that, it is very entertaining.
As it was going to be a quick game, I made a small and classic world. You start with copper tools and play.
I made a crazy character, with pink skin and blue hair.
We have this dude named Luke. He teaches us what to do and guides us. He is the guide, indeed.
From the first moment the guide is present
Gathering resources
As in any survival game, we must collect resources from our environment to build things that make our life easier, our house, make fire, and so on. Although Terraria is more "magic/fiction with a bit of survival".
A lot of random things will happen.
Grab some wood and finish off some slimes (basic surface enemy).
With these 2 objects (wood and slime) we make torches.
We can explore other biomes. The worlds are finite, but you can explore in every direction and find something.
With the torches we explore the subsoil in search of minerals and treasures.
Simply enter caves already randomly generated by the map. To make it easier to obtain magic items and minerals.
It is very easy to die if you make a bad move. There are traps and enemies have respawned near you.
We explored some abandoned houses in the underworld. They always have treasures with cool stuff. As if some hero has abandoned them there.
You will also need these crystal hearts. They increase your base life. It's a way to level up in this game with a collection method.
With minerals we can create some important weapons to ensure our survival. But above all fight against the bosses that give good loot to make you more invincible.
It is a sandbox with rpg touches.
Returning to the surface
We go back to the guide. We can ask him what can be created by showing him each element we have obtained.
Showing recipes using Ruby. Required items: Anvil.
The ideal would be to create a house to protect the NPCs. But since I'm playing to be armed as soon as possible I'm not going to waste time on that.
Npcs know how to defend themselves.
Luke the guide has been killed.
Although at night everything is more hostile and stronger enemies appear. Ups.
Preparing a camp
For the moment I'm not going to make a house. I'll put everything on the ground and keep making my tools. Hoping to find some good weapon in a chest.
I discovered that you can create a cactus armor. At the moment in classic mode, it is very good. I don't know if it's as effective in other initial modes. I say this because it's the first time I make one.
This armor deals contact damage to enemies. The damage done by the armor is very high compared to your starting DPS.
I have made some modifications to the camp. With some ditches, so enemies can't be in it. Basic enemies don't jump more than your character.
Some enemies can fly. From those, there is no escape for the moment.
Anyway, the time we spend at the camp is short. Just to deposit minerals and new objects.
A fall without salvation
I must admit that I found a spark wand that did 17 damage and went to confront a dungeon boss.
I managed to defeat it. But I underestimated the dungeon it protected.
I thought that since there was no boss I would be able to enjoy the treasures of the new unlocked dungeon. But no.
After dying and losing all objects.
It turns out that in this dungeon lives a kind of cult. Their goal is to revive the final boss through rituals. And as you enter you encounter enemies, traps, and all sorts of things that seek to kill you. Because it's like their home and you're an intruder.
I do not recommend going there unless you have the power of flight.
At best I had a hook. I died because the whole floor collapsed making me fall into a spike trap. With my current equipment, it was impossible to survive.
I also admit that I was surprised by this kind of big trap and did not move with a cool head to save myself.
Starting over from scratch
The only thing I didn't lose was the heart crystals I consumed. At least life doesn't go back to where it started.
This loss of all the farming I did made me realize that I lacked experience playing Terraria. If I was a normal character I would have just lost my money and it's not a big loss.
Something you should know is that this way of playing is not so bad, because when you die you do lose the objects, but they stay right where you died.
The bad thing is that you show up with the basic copper equipment. If you don't have some equipment to put on and go rescue your items in the area full of strong enemies. Game over.
The good thing is that the cactus armor is easy to get. Just go to the desert biome and get the cacti that naturally come out of the ground.
Resumen
It was a good game. Although I lost most of my equipment and had no spare equipment to go get my old one back. It's crazy.
Soon I will make another more organized game. And then it comes with the character that if he dies he disappears. I will check the wiki to know more about useful items.
Undoubtedly a game with few requirements, sandbox, for the whole family.
Thanks for reading!
