A little while ago a friend (who knew that I like taking pictures of animals) told me that there was a fox family living on his land. I've always loved foxes but don't get to see them very often in Ohio as they're pretty sneaky and elusive, so naturally I went to my friend's land early one Saturday morning to set up camp and wait for the foxes to come out. I ended up waiting for a couple hours before there were any signs of life, but eventually the foxes decide that it was time to come out and play.
They seemed to be aware that there was something strange (me) nearby, but after sniffing around for a while they decided that they were safe and proceeded to lounge around in the grass, sunning themselves and wrestling with each other. They were just as cute and fun to watch as I had hoped, and I had a great time just sitting and observing them for about an hour. One of them managed to catch a mouse while I was watching and was tossing it around and playing with it like a little toy.
After an hour or so they decided that it was time to head back into their hole, so I waved goodbye and went on my merry way. This experience solidified my love of foxes and was a really neat up-close peek into their everyday life.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures that I took of them.
