In the St. Petersburg Hermitage, one of the largest museums in the world, not only styles and different directions of architecture and interior decoration are intertwined. Each visitor clearly sees the stages of historical periods that affected the building of the Winter Palace. Many generations of Russian emperors lived here, each in its own way equipping its magnificent home. Each of them left a mark on the history, the pages of which we read until now.
Everything that is exhibited in the Museum's halls is only a very small part of all the wealth and art objects of the Hermitage, which simply would not be placed even in such a huge Museum building. But unchanged and always in sight are only columns, marble walls and carved patterns, made mainly in the style of Empire and Baroque.
