Hey everyone! So, I wanted to share something I've been working on, and also talk about why I love this character so much.
This is Naara, from , and honestly? I saw this drawing someone did, just flowing with blue crayons and pen, and I was like, okay, I NEED to draw her myself. The original inspiration pic is the one above, and it's just so pretty, the way the colors blend and everything.
I've been obsessed with water-type characters since forever, and Naara just hits different, you know?
What Makes Naara So Cool
Okay, so let me break down why I think Naara is literally the coolest.
I can't explain it, but it just feels peaceful and mysterious at the same time.
And the sketch style in the inspiration pic is everything. There's something about rough sketches that feel more alive than super finished drawings. Like, you can see the artist's hand moving and making decisions, and it just feels real. That's what made me want to pick up my crayons, honestly.
My Version of Naara
So, I decided to do my own take on her, but I wanted it to be kinda messy, blue and fun, not too serious.
First, I just went in with blue crayons, no thinking, just coloring. I love how crayons feel when you draw with them, like they have texture, and they don't cover everything perfectly, so you get these little white spots showing through. I don't know how to explain it. I was just scribbling really, but in a good way, lol.
Then, I got my pen out
I also made her fins bigger and more dramatic, because why not, lol. I like how the black lines look against the blue crayon, it's like messy but also clean at the same time??? I don't know if that makes sense.
And here she is, finished.
She's not perfect, and her left fin is bigger than the right one, I think, lol. But I actually love her. She feels like MY Naara, you know? Like I took the inspiration from the original and added my own flavor to it. The crayon and pen combo is probably my new favorite way to draw.
Anyway
Naara is awesome by herself, but drawing her made me feel connected to the character and to the artist who drew the original. That's what art should be about, right? Sharing and remixing and having fun.
If you guys draw your own versions of Holozing characters, please tag me, I wanna seeeeee.
