"Slow and Steady wins the race" is that saying that means that we should not rush towards our goals and that patience, consistency is more reliable than rushing around and being erratic.
I think there is so much a person can unpack from this saying that falls outside of that the baseline description is of the proverb.
The story goes that the Hare and the Tortoise has a race, the Hare obviously sprinting away and leaving the Tortoise far behind. Overconfident, the Hare takes a nap. Meanwhile the Tortoise never stopped and overtakes the sleeping Hare and wins the race.
More the unpack here.
Overconfidence is the downfall.
Short bursts of sudden effort and then nothing at all is also not effective.
Meanwhile, what was successful was patience, persistence, and ignoring the less favourable odds. We have to take into account that besides the slow grind towards the finish line, it is not the physicality of the Tortoise's pace that won this race.
It was the mental aspect.
If the Tortoise had stopped because the Hare was ahead, the race would have lost. The Tortoise ran his race as though he was doing his own thing. He kept his effort constant and that meant that when the highly motivated but poor discipline Hare took a break, that the oppertunity was created.
With this in mind, we need to look at our own efforts and the efforts of those around us.
How many projects started with a blaze of glory and then died out and disappeared? Projects and goals people have or even our own that started with a bang and then disappeared. Often these projects become sore points or an embarrassment to acknowledge.
This all came to mind when I was uploading my Youtube Shorts to my Channel. I usually did 2 Shorts per day and that seemed to work to get that initial shock to the algorithm.
However, the efficacy of this posting tactic seems to have waned. While my channel is still growing merrily, it seems that there is a case of Post Cannibalism in the way that Youtube presents my new posts to my Subscribers.
While gaining new Subs is a must, retaining interest and returning views is paramount to long term success.
Post Cannabilism on Youtube is when you get notifications about something that I posted, but it is not my most recent post. Youtube can't keep pushing one creator, so posting so frequently does not give the Subscriber enough time to view my content.
I will now switch to posting once a day and run that for around a month or so and then down to the recommended 3 times a week.
I will update everyone as I go along!
Thanks for reading this post!
