I HATED playing against an Eldar army with a squad of Harlequins in it! (Back then they could only be played this way) Now I see that you can field a whole ARMY of Harlequins!
Hi. Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa with another Warhammer 40,000 lore post!
Who are the Harlequins?
This is now the 5th kind of Aeldari that I am featuring in a lore post. There is one more major kind and then there are still plenty sub-factions.
Harlequins are the followers of Cegorach, one of the 3 remaining Gods from the Aeldari pantheon. We have covered Khaine already and he is splintered into many shards. The 3rd one I will discuss it another time...
Cegorach is the Laughing God, the Jester, and also called the Fool. The duty of the Harlequins is to guard knowledge and to keep the ancient History (especially that of the Fall) alive through reenactment.
These Aeldari, much like the Corsairs, their members come from any of the other factions of Aeldari including Drukhari. However, instead of mere mercenaries and pirates, these Troupes of Harlequins are the followers of their God's wishes and will fight alongside all Aeldari.
War and performance are synonymous. They generally have gear that allow them to flaunt gravity and also to have a sort of cloak that makes them difficult to see.
They apparently also guard the Black Library, an ancient and special Craft World that is inside the Webway and repository of knowledge of all things Chaos.
And that is their main beef. They guard the knowledge of how Chaos can be defeated!
Gameplay
Generally, they are a pain in the behind to face. Here are some of their current units:
Harlequin Troupe
Death Jester
Solitaire
Skyweavers
Voidweaver
Honestly, a lot of these units I have never seen on a Battlefield or faced in Battle.
I think it would be a good idea to check them out some more. Most likely they are super fast and durable due to their wargear and technology.
Thank you for reading!
