I used to write poems before mostly to express myself and as a form of a diary for me. While checking out some of my old stuffs today, I was able to read some of my old poems and wanted to share a poem that I wrote when I was in first year high school. Reminds me of the struggles I had before as a commuter.
The Sacrifice
I wake up in the morning
So early look like everning
Stars are still shining
And I am still dreaming
Move as fast as I can
To go to school without pain
And crossing a busy lane
Around 5 O'clock in the morn
But then one day I woke up
When sun is already up
Oh gosh! I might become late
But still I have some faith
I move faster
Then almost run after
I think I would have a fever
If I don't catch up later
Then I ride in a jeep
Sounds like beep beep beep
Then I hear the school bell in the gate
I said thank you God I am not late.
Funny to recall how I feel during those times when I was running against time going to school. The campus is not that far in our home but if I would start my commute around 5:30 AM, the struggle of a jeep ride is so real since there will be lots of commuters heading to their work and fellow students as well. I sometimes lead the morning prayer and the flag ceremony that was why being late should be not in my vocabulary during those times.
