As recorded by Iorwerth ap Gwyn, in The Mysteries of Fandelran Forest:
Vallenfall Well can be found at the centre of Fandelran Forest. Protected by the treant, Holiwier, it is believed to be the source of all magic on the eastern continent of Glynmawr. We have approached Holiwier on several occasions to gain access to the well, but have been refused each time.
Our Magi-scientists have conducted a number of fly-by recordings, and using their Magospectrometers have determined that it is indeed the source of an incredible supply of raw magic. Readings of upwards of 86 APM (Arcs per Minute) were recorded 300 feet above the well, readings that rival most city portals from up close and some of the most powerful spells cast by archmages like Hywel ap Meirion.
Holiwier's magic projects a 250 foot diameter protective bubble from the well, preventing all outsiders from gaining access to it. What might happen if its power falls into the hands of a bad actor is of constant political debate, with Inarellian politicians confronting Holiwier regarding its defence on a regular basis. Holiwier rejects all attempts for a human army to establish itself within Fandelran, citing the human race's highly corruptible nature.
Small elven enclaves are known to exist within the forest, but a large force hasn't been seen since the likes of the ancient Sevari tribe. Several of those still living within Fandelran have told our team that they would lay down their lives to protect the well, and will act as one to follow Holiwier's will. Wood elves have a proclivity to nature and have an almost supernatural connection with treants, so it's no wonder Holiwier abides their presence.
On a moon-lit night, it is possible to see ephemera reaching out of the well; shimmering lights of blues and purples that paint the sky above the forest. The beauty of the Vallenfall Lights has been the inspiration for many note-worthy artists, such as Gwenhwyfar Dda, with her piece; The Azure Night, as well as poets and bards across the continent.
